At Holy Trinity Catholic School, Kindergarten students find their voices in their classes, as they experience learning with their hands, heads, and hearts. We hope you will use this information below to understand the ways we inspire their exploration of each subject area, develop their passion for learning, and encourage their collaboration with each other.
Kindergarten students are building crucial foundational skills in all areas: social and emotional, language and communication, gross and fine motor skills, citizenship and their place in a community, creative expression, and academic skills and knowledge. Our teachers work to develop these areas in a variety of teaching methods, events, and settings.
Students will work on core curriculum subjects of math and literacy. The syllabus documents below provide a list of objectives that Kindergarten students will meet in each discipline.
Kindergarten participates in "Specials" as part of our student enrichment curriculum. They will go to Computer, Library, Music, and Physical Education as a part of their regular schedule.
Faith formation begins with our youngest students at HTCS. The Kindergarten class will attend all-school Mass each week on Wednesdays. They have a religion theme each week, such as learning about a saint or a liturgical season. Kindergarten will also go to the Grandparents' Day mass and the Blessing of the Pets. Kindergarten Recognition is a Mass that Kindergarten students plan and actively participate to celebrate their promotion to Grade 1.
Students get to go on field trips that can change from year to year. They have gone apple picking and pumpkin picking and have visited the zoo and children's museums. These opportunities provide hands-on learning in a social setting from the experts we visit.
Kindergarten students learn the importance of community by forming a special relationship with their 5th Grade Buddies. These older students become role models and helpers for our Kindergarten students. Some examples of activities are that Kindergarten and 5th Grade Buddies work on science experiments together, go on Easter egg hunts, and attend Mass together.
Parents and Grandparents are always welcome! Parents can volunteer to help in the Kindergarten classroom. We are also looking for volunteers to work at centers, attend field trips, listen to students read (in the Spring), or just preparing materials used for special projects.
Kindergarten is a special time for our young learners, and we are so excited to welcome them into the HTCS family.
