All clubs and activities listed here have been offered in the past, but it is not guaranteed that they will be offered every year--this depends on student interest and moderator availability! We are also open to new activities that students may be interested in starting.
CLUBS
STUDENT COUNCIL
Participants: Grades 5-8
About: Student Council serves to improve the school environment by providing a voice for the student body. Members work to create meaningful experiences for the students at Holy Trinity. StuCo organizes pep rallies, school dances, fundraisers, a Christmas movie day, and other events to boost school spirit. Fundraisers have previously given funds back to the school community for purchases such as the "GaGa" pit on the playground and materials for the Extended Care Program. School spirit is promoted through various classroom competitions to earn their homeroom the right to hold the Spirit Stick.
When: Officer elections are held at the beginning of the school year. StuCo meetings are after school every other Wednesday.
NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY
Participants: Qualifying students in Grades 6-8
About: The National Junior Honors Society is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding middle level students. More than just an honor roll, NJHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. NJHS does various service projects throughout the year, such as wrapping gifts for local nursing homes, food drives, blood drives. NJHS also hosts fundraisers that support their school wide enrichment nights, Literacy Night and Math and Science Night.
When: Meetings are held during lunch and recess once per month. NJHS members are required to complete service hours on their own time as well.

FIRST LEGO LEAGUE ROBOTICS
Participants: Grades 5-8
About: FIRST LEGO League is the result of an exciting alliance between FIRST and the LEGO company. Guided by their mentors and their own imaginations, FLL students solve real-world engineering challenges, develop important life skills, and learn to make positive contributions to society. Each yearly challenge has three parts: Core Values, the Robot Game, and the Project. Students have 8 weeks to: 1. build an autonomous robot to carry out pre-designed missions in two minutes and thirty seconds, 2. analyze, research, and invent a solution to a real world problem, and 3. learn to work together as a team while demonstrating core values.
When: FLL season runs from September through December with meetings after school two or three days per week.
SPEECH
Participants: Grades 6-8
About: Speech Team allows students to showcase theatrical skills while competing against other Belleville Diocese students in their category. Students memorize and recite a short script with a dramatic or comedic theme.
When: Practice is once per week after school with three tournaments per school year.
DRAMA CLUB
Participants: Grades 3-8
About: Students in Drama Club get to experience the world of drama through trips to the Fox Theatre, caroling, theater games, and other activities. Drama Club also aims to perform one musical theater production per year. Students are invited to perform in the cast or work behind the scenes on the crew doing sets, costumes, makeup, sound, or lighting.
When: Meetings are once per month, with more frequent rehearsals before the play.
SCHOLAR BOWL
Participants: Grades 7-8
About: Students compete as a team to answer trivia questions in meets against other local Catholic grade schools. "Toss-up" questions are answered individually and "Bonus" questions are answered as a team. Students learn teamwork and sportsmanship skills through their love of scholastic trivia in a variety of categories.
When: Scholar Bowl practice begins in October. Their meets begin in December and run through march. Practice and meets are held after school once or twice per week.

YOUNG VINNIES
Participants: Grades 5-8
About: Young Vinnies is the youth version of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. They sponsor many service projects allowing our whole school community to participate in service to others. Young Vinnies organizes the Math-a-Thon which raises money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Funds were also raised for Kellsie's Hope, a local charity that helps kids battling cancer at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital and St. Louis Children's Hospital. Young Vinnies also organized a diaper drive for Mosaic Pregnancy Center in Belleville.
When: Meetings are during lunch, once per quarter.
ART CLUB
Participants: Grades 4-8
About: Art Club provides a creative outlet after school for students to go beyond the art curriculum provided during the day. Students are exposed to a variety of mediums, and learn techniques of painting and drawing.
When: Weekly after school
Fee: A $50 fee includes materials for projects. Three separate sessions of eight classes each are offered throughout the year.
ACTIVITIES & EVENTS
SPELLING BEE
Participants: Grades 1-8
About: All classes participate in preliminary classroom Spelling Bee competitions. One winner from each grade moves on to the school-wide Spelling Bee. Our school winner advances to the regional competition. This Spelling Bee organized by Scripps National Spelling Bee and the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
When: Classroom competitions are held in mid-January. School competition is held in the beginning of February.

YOUNG AUTHORS
Participants: Grades K-8
About: Young Authors is an event held once per year for students to demonstrate their creative writing skills. Students may enter submissions into the contest and winners are chosen from three age categories at our school. Those winning entries then advance to showcase their manuscript with other district winners in April.
When: Writing submissions are collected in the spring.
